Military Affairs Committee gets new VP
ABILENE, Texas – Abilene Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Doug Peters has announced some exciting changes for the Military Affairs Committee.
Gray Bridwell, who has chaired the MAC since 2013 and has been an active MAC member for 19 years, will join the Chamber staff as Vice President, Military Affairs, on Nov. 5th.
Greg Blair, manager of Community Affairs and Customer Service for American Electric Power and a 13-year MAC member, will become MAC Chair.
Doug Williamson, who has served the last 16 months as Interim VP, Military Affairs, will continue working with the MAC as Director of Community Partnerships.
“We could not find a person more experienced, more knowledgeable and more dedicated to our Military Affairs Committee than Gray Bridwell,” Peters said. “We have so many opportunities and challenges before us as we work to grow Dyess Air Force Base.”
Bridwell, who was only the seventh Chair in MAC history, said, “I am excited to continue legacy the Military Affairs Committee has had with Dyess for more than six decades. To work hand in hand with the airmen at Dyess is an honor.”
Looking at priorities, Bridwell said, ”Pushing for the B-21 at Dyess is a must and I am looking forward to a great future.”
In his VP position, Bridwell will coordinate all MAC activities advocating on the local, state and national advocating for the base and local members of the military and their families.
In Williamson’s new post, he will work with the Dyess-Big Country Community Partners Forum and other groups to identify and implement mutually beneficial agreements for services and other activities. He also will deal with the MAC’s relationship with state government.
The Military Affairs Committee is a public-private partnership of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Development Corporation of Abilene, individuals and businesses. Through its 275 members, MAC advocates for expansion and preservation of missions at Dyess and cares for the needs of military members and their families.
