Abilene Chamber and McMurry University Celebrate National Women’s Entrepreneurship Week 2020
A partnership with McMurry University Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

Abilene, Texas – In partnership with McMurry University, the Gaia Storytelling Lab (Berlin, Germany) and Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez (Juarez, Mexico), the Abilene Chamber of Commerce is pleased to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Week with a virtual international video experience highlighting women entrepreneurs from across the world.

“Women’s Entrepreneurship Week was one of the first events I launched when I came to McMurry University,” said Dr. Duncan Pelly, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship for McMurry University. “Our hope is that through this virtual platform we are able to give women  entrepreneurs a platform to share their story, to hear from other women entrepreneurs from across the globe, and to empower more women to share their business story.”

The virtual event will be held from Sept. 21- Nov. 13 on YouTube, with two videos premiering per week, and featuring four women entrepreneurs from Abilene, Texas.

“We’re thrilled to have this partnership with our friends at McMurry University,” said Doug Peters, President and CEO of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. “According to Cornerstone Capital Group, women-owned businesses have grown at a rate of 21 percent since 2014. After the hit that the entire business community took due to COVID-19, it’s important that we lift up our women-owned businesses to showcase their impact on our business community.”
