Summertime is here and I hope you’re enjoying some relaxation and rest! After COVID and SNOVID, we know it’s well-earned.

However, while you’re enjoying relaxation and rest, that doesn’t mean that our work stops. In fact, volunteer members of our organization are pouring brain power into ensuring that you receive the value of your investment in our mission of developing and promoting the economy and quality of life in the Abilene area.

How so you ask? Check out this line up of great efforts, pulled together by committees of supercharged business folk who contribute their time and horsepower to help you work on your business and not just in your business:

August 7 – Military Affairs Committee (MAC) members are ready to show their appreciation to our airmen and their families at the World’s Largest BBQ. Like many of our programs and events, we weren’t able to host the long-standing event in 2020, but we’re back this fall better than ever.

August 11 – Business Expo sponsored by Black Plumbing, Pest Patrol and Lawrence Hall - Abilene is Back in the Saddle! The largest business-to-business networking event in West Texas will remain in August for 2021, and you won’t want to miss this opportunity to get your business out there.

Sept. 18 – Children’s Business Fair hosted by the Chamber’s Industrial Foundation, will once again showcase some of Abilene’s youngest entrepreneurs in a half-day event geared toward fostering Abilene’s economic ecosystem.

Sept. 23Membership Meeting & Awards Celebration sponsored by Taylor Telecom aka the Chamber’s biggest party of the year! Let’s celebrate all that you, our members, have accomplished in 2021 and look forward to what 2022 has to offer.

Oct. 9 – Business Mercado did someone say bidi bidi bom bom? The Chamber’s Hispanic Business Council is back after much anticipation for their business-to-consumer market! Save the date for this high energy event, and shoutout to our sponsors Happy State Bank, Telemundo and America's SBDC at Texas Tech.

Oct. 25 – Remember our Busted Putter tournament that benefits the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee? We’re bringing it back this year as we pay tribute to America’s heroes!

Throw in events and programs from our young professional program and our regularly scheduled networking events, there’s opportunity available this fall for all!

And while these events and projects are the culmination of months of planning and projects, they’re not all we do. Not by a long shot.

Remember, your Chamber helps our community through the power of business to attract tourism, works hard in the arts, brings our young talent together and combines that effort with others to enhance our workforce. We advocate for business, the economy and our community at all levels of government in accordance with our mission, we help recruit and retain capital investment and the jobs that businesses create in our great city – and much more.

We hope you’ll join all our partners, our leadership and all the other hard-working people who make these things happen to benefit your business!

Onward!
