Abilene Chamber Now Accepting Small Business Award Nominations

The Abilene Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Small Business Week celebrations the week of May 2-6, and locally highlight the impact of the outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners across the Big Country. The week is sponsored by the Northwest Texas Business Resource Center and First Financial Bank and is held in conjunction with National Small Business Week.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” said Doug Peters, President and CEO of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. “Owning a small business takes great fortitude, and I have never been prouder of the tenacity and determination of the entrepreneurs in our community.”

Each year community members have the opportunity to nominate small businesses across four award categories. Award recipients are recognized during the Salute to Small Business Week Luncheon held on Tuesday, May 3rd.

“Eighty-Five percent of the businesses associated with the Chamber are small businesses,” said Liberty-Grace Bland, Program and Communications Manager of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. “Abilene is such a great place to call home, and we look forward to recognizing and celebrating the impact of small businesses within our community.”

Nominations are currently being accepted for the following categories:

  • Small Business Young Entrepreneur of the Year

  • Small Business Community Investment Award

  • Family-Owned Business of the Year

  • New Business of the Year
