Can you spare 10 minutes?

Board of Directors

Staff Reports

In a few short weeks, your Chamber staff and elected Board of Directors will meet to discuss our Program of Work for the Chamber’s next fiscal year.

This is one of my favorite parts of the year. It’s a time where we seek valuable feedback from you, our member, and evaluate current programs and events while setting our sights on the future needs of the business community.

Thankfully, because of the firm foundation previous Chamber leaders have laid for our organization, most of the programming and events that we provide our partners continue to be exactly what the business community needs.

However, there’s always room for improvement, and this year’s process has been a tad unique. Thanks to our Chamber Chair, Laura Moore (The Grace Museum), we’ve been evaluating the programs and events we offer our partners all year.

Led by Chamber Chair-elect, Mike Fernandez (Texas National Bank), a Program Taskforce was formed this fiscal year with the sole objective of evaluating every single program and event offered by the Chamber.

They looked at the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee, the Abilene Young Professionals, the Hispanic Business Council, the Ag Committee, our work in downtown, networking events, and leadership programs. They also looked at what programming is lacking for our business community and areas that need to be improved upon.

I want to thank Travis Ruiz, Nexstar Media Group; Nathan Lowry, Big Country Title; Kelly Jay, Texas Media, Inc.; Megan Dobbs, Community Foundation of Abilene; Jennifer Cheung-Navejas, Hashi Teppan Grill; and Benjamin Young, Brightway, The Young Agency for serving on the taskforce. Over the course of 10 months, these members met and provided key input that will help drive not only our 2022-2023 Program of Work, but the future of our organization.

But – we’re not done yet.

In order to help our volunteer leadership best prepare for their planning session, we need your feedback in our annual survey to the business community.

The survey will close at the end of the week (July 1, 2022), takes less than 10 minutes, and I promise every response matters. We thank you in advance for your participation as we continue to work toward the Program of Work that our volunteers had laid out for us.
