Editor’s note: It’s an exciting week at the Chamber as we gear up for our annual Membership Meeting & Awards Celebration.

We’ve shared a lot about this year’s event in our Monday Morning Memo, monthly eblast, and social media posts. I hope you can feel the energy leading up to Thursday.

While our team prepares for Thursday, take a look at what you can anticipate as one of our valued guests including a glimpse at this year’s Live Auction packages.

Do you remember just a few years ago when the Chamber shifted the format of its Annual Meeting? That dates back to the days of Chairman Charlie Black (Wagstaff Law Firm). I think it was 2016.

Anyway, that’s the year we changed from what I’ve heard referred to as a “boring dinner” to a celebration of achievement of our community and our members.

No more keynote speaker. Live music. Great awards. All your friends.

And to think we thought it couldn’t get any better.

This year’s event, sponsored by Taylor Telecom, is going to be different, but a celebration for certain. Honestly, with what our business community has been through, you can rest assured that the emphasis will be on celebrating.

But it’s going to be different.

First, we will celebrate 60 strong years of public/private partnership. This year, our Abilene Industrial Foundation turns 60. And Abilene’s very own Jay Moore will be on hand to share some awesome history about all our community has accomplished through partnerships.

But as is tradition, we will also bestow our traditional awards. Whether it’s our annual Chairman’s Award, our Military Affairs, Young Professional, Redcoat, Leadership Abilene, Hispanic Business Council, or our Abilene’s Citizen of the Year Award, there will be no shortage of well-deserved accolades.

Finally – and get this y’all – we’re going to have the mother-of-all live auctions. Proceeds from the auction will help drive the Chamber’s mission of developing and promoting our area’s economy and quality of life.

Here’s what I believe about this year’s celebration: it will be among our best ever, it will be the place to be on the evening of September 15, and your friends will be talking about it for weeks to follow. All the cool kids will be there.

The event is about celebrating. And there’s no better reason to celebrate than you. We can’t wait to see you there.

Onward!
