I’ll save the obligatory “I can’t believe it’s been a year already” (you’re welcome) and get right to the point.
September 19 will be kind of a big deal.
Seriously. You need to make sure it’s circled on your calendar.
What’s the big deal? I’m glad you asked!
It’s the Abilene Chamber’s 111th Annual Meeting and Membership Celebration. And if you thought our previous Celebrations were good, you’re not going to believe this one.
It’s true.
The Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Membership Celebration is one of two major events that is undertaken to celebrate business and leadership in our great city. The other is Small Business Week.
In each, the Chamber sets out to not only create an enjoyable event, but to celebrate the men and women of our community who are – well – a big deal.
We will present the coveted Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award, and if you’ve not yet nominated a deserving recipient, please do so. Same goes for the Young Professional of the Year. Click the links to make your nomination today.
And new this year is the Non-Profit of the Year Award, which will be bestowed on one of the many Chamber member charities in our community. There’s still time to nominate.
In all, 10 awards will be presented to those in our membership who work hard every day to make a difference – whether in our community, within their business or within the lives of our fellow Abilenians.

As if the awards aren’t big deal enough, we’ll all be together celebrating a great year for business, business ownership and our community.
We’ll recognize our outgoing Chairman of the Board Seaton Higginbotham (Arrow Ford) and thank him for his leadership, and we’ll welcome incoming 2019-20 Chairman Darrin Black (Black Plumbing).

If you’ve been on the receiving end of Chairman Higginbotham’s perspective, you know that he and many others in our city believe that Abilene, Texas, and our region are in the midst of a renaissance. We should celebrate the progress along with the people behind it.
