Abilene Chamber Helps Ensure Pipeline of Talent for Business Community
A partnership with Abilene Teacher’s Federal Credit Union
The Abilene Chamber is pleased to announce a partnership with Abilene Teacher’s Federal Credit Union (ATFCU) through the Chamber’s young professional program on the upcoming Economic Reality Fair.
A program of ATFCU, the Economic Reality Fair takes place Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Wylie High School from 9:00 -11:30 am for seniors currently enrolled in economics. Students are paired together, given a monthly budget, and are directed to work together to decide how to spend their monthly budget with real-life scenarios handed to them.
"Financial education is one of the top priorities for credit unions,” said Elizabeth Gray, Community Relations Specialist for Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union. “We are pleased to offer an Economic Reality Fair to provide students with real life monthly expenses that show the necessity of having a workable budget.”
New to this fall's Economic Reality Fair, members of the Chamber's young professionals' program will be conducting two out of the three breakout sessions to instill even more learning in participants. Breakout sessions include credit fundamentals, vehicle maintenance, and professional etiquette.
