How can Abilene entrepreneurs drive economic development, create jobs, and foster social impact?

Fresh off the heels of the Chamber’s Small Business Week, the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Abilene Regional Growth Alliance have partnered with the Central Texas Angel Network (CTAN), Texas's leading angel investment network!

When I think about the suitability of this partnership between CTAN, the Chamber, and the 4Growth Alliance, with the community of Abilene, I think about the very spirit of entrepreneurialism that is a part of the very community fabric that brought me to Abilene, Texas.

I’m Courtney Queen, a faculty in the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

In fact, my job and my move to Abilene are the best evidence that when entrepreneurship and angel funding (or, community-level entrepreneurship, or investment?) intersect at the community level, it can lead to several positive outcomes for local communities such as:

  1. Job Creation

  2. Innovation

  3. Ecosystem Development

  4. Social Impact

  5. Knowledge Transfer

Angel funding is crucial in financing the launch and expansion of entrepreneurial ventures. It provides essential capital, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help startups succeed.

Through this partnership with the Central Texas Angel Network, the Chamber and Abilene Growth Alliance can continue the tradition of fostering entrepreneurship in our community through:

  1. Providing hands-on training and workshops to entrepreneurs and community leaders through partnerships.

  2. Incorporating community entrepreneurship principles with our educational institutions through collaboration.

  3. Investing in our local entrepreneurs.

  4. A rising tide lifts all ships – everyone benefits when businesses succeed.

Now is your chance to learn more about angel funding, whether you’re a founder or a potential funder – looking for funding or potentially investing – through a proven, shared risk platform that has a record of success and a solid process to back it up.

Community-level entrepreneurship and angel funding play complementary roles in driving economic development, innovation, and social change within local communities, fostering a dynamic ecosystem where startups and small businesses can thrive.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in building the capacity to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development in West Texas by supporting and encouraging even more small business opportunities for Abilene and the Big Country.

Through this generous spirit and entrepreneurial qualities and vision, we can advance these great qualities that are already part of the Abilene community.
