In Abilene, we take great pride in supporting our local businesses, investing in our community, and fostering a strong economy that benefits everyone. One of the simplest and most impactful ways we can continue to build on this momentum is by making a conscious choice to fly local.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share the launch of the “Fly Local Pledge”, an initiative from the Abilene Regional Airport and the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, designed to encourage businesses and residents alike to use our local airport, ABI, for their travel needs.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "It’s easier to fly out of DFW or another larger airport." But when you factor in the time, the stress, and the extra costs of getting to those other airports, choosing ABI actually makes more sense. Flying local is not only about convenience, it’s about contributing to something bigger. When we use ABI, we help support the jobs of our friends and neighbors and strengthen the local economy, contributing to Abilene's continued growth and prosperity.

When Abilene Regional Airport thrives, our entire region benefits. Access to air travel is a key driver of a community’s success—whether it's for business, family, or vacation, the health of our airport plays a huge role in how well Abilene performs. The growth of air access is directly tied to our willingness to use our regional airport. That’s why I’m encouraging local businesses to take the Fly Local Pledge – it’s free to you – and commit to flying out of ABI whenever possible.

With our pledge, we can help ABI continue to grow and thrive, and ultimately bring in new opportunities for our businesses and residents. And trust me, every time you choose ABI, you’re investing in the future of this great city.

I hope you’ll consider taking the pledge. Visit iFlyABI.com to learn more and join me in making this simple but significant choice to fly local, support our airport, and continue building Abilene’s bright future.

After all, when ABI wins, we all win.

Onward!
