When I stepped into my role as Talent & Emerging Business Specialist in June of 2023, I was entering the professional world for the very first time.
Like so many young professionals, I was navigating new responsibilities, growing my network, and discovering how I could make a real impact.
Fast forward to April 2024 — I found myself standing inside the Abilene Convention Center, watching nearly 400 young professionals from across the region gather for the West Texas Young Professional Leadership Summit. It was one of those moments that stays with you.
Seeing that many driven, curious, and ambitious people in one place building relationships, learning from local leaders, and investing in themselves filled me with pride.
Not just pride in the event, but in the incredible community behind it.
I want to take a moment to recognize the true heroes of that day — the passionate volunteers who poured countless hours into making it happen. Their dedication, creativity, and energy were the heartbeat of the 2024 Summit. It was because of them that the day ran smoothly, the sessions inspired, and the connections made were meaningful.
Now, it’s time to look ahead.

This year’s theme is “Unmask Your Potential,” and I promise it’s going to be one to remember.
Hosted every 18 months by Abilene Young Professionals, the Summit is an all-day conference dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders. It’s your chance to build relationships, engage in transformative learning, and hear from dynamic civic and business leaders — all in a high-energy, top-tier setting.
