As we head into 2026, many professionals and community members are thinking about how they want to show up in the year ahead — how they can give back, grow their networks and make a meaningful impact. At the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, one thing is clear: volunteers make everything we do possible.
Chamber volunteers are truly the lifeblood of our organization. Nearly 2,400 volunteer leaders dedicate their time and talents each year, contributing more than 65,000 hours annually to help strengthen Abilene’s business community and move our region forward. Their service touches every corner of the Chamber’s work, from signature events and leadership programs to advocacy efforts and member engagement.
Volunteering with the Chamber is more than lending a helping hand. It’s an opportunity to build relationships with fellow business and community leaders, gain insight into how our region grows, and plays an active role in shaping Abilene’s future.
There are many ways to get involved at the Chamber, whether you’re looking for hands-on opportunities or leadership-driven roles. Many volunteers choose to serve on planning taskforces, helping design and execute some of the Chamber’s most visible events such as the Business Expo, Texas Farm Ranch & Wildlife Expo and the Annual Membership Meeting & Awards Celebration. These groups work behind the scenes to ensure events are impactful, welcoming and valuable for members.
Others find their place as Redcoat Ambassadors, serving as goodwill representatives of the Chamber. Redcoats help welcome new members, assist with ribbon cuttings and attend Chamber events throughout the year, often becoming some of the most recognizable and trusted faces in our organization.
For those interested in deeper leadership involvement, the Chamber also offers opportunities to serve on committees, councils and boards, focusing on areas such as workforce development, advocacy, military affairs, minority business engagement and community growth. Leadership programs like Leadership Abilene and Abilene Young Professionals provide structured ways to learn, serve and connect while making a lasting impact.
The collective impact of these efforts is significant. If the time contributed by Chamber volunteers were measured in dollars, it would represent well over $1.75 million in value invested directly back into our community each year. But the true value goes beyond numbers — it’s found in stronger businesses, deeper connections and a shared commitment to Abilene’s success.
As we look ahead to 2026, we invite you to consider how you might get involved with the Chamber. Whether you’re new to the organization or ready to take your engagement to the next level, there’s a place for you to serve, lead and make a difference.
