There is something special about a neighborhood.
It's where people know your name. It's where friends become family, businesses become gathering places, and neighbors come together to celebrate with one another and also to support one another through life’s challenges. It's where a community takes shape, one relationship at a time.
When I think about Abilene, that's exactly what comes to mind.
My hometown has always been more than a collection of streets, buildings, and businesses. It's a community built on connections. It's the business owner who welcomes customers with a smile. The volunteer who gives their time to make our community better. The educator who invests in the next generation. The church and nonprofit who makes sure no one falls through the cracks. The entrepreneur who takes a chance on a dream. It is a group of individuals coming together to live out the call to “love your neighbor” in all the big and the little ways that matter most.
This year, the Abilene Chamber of Commerce is excited to celebrate our neighbors during our 2026 Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Celebration, presented by Taylor Telecom.
Inspired by the timeless reminder that "it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood," our theme, A Night in the Neighborhood, invites us to reflect on the people, businesses, and organizations that make Abilene such a remarkable place to live, work, and grow.
Join us on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center for an evening dedicated to celebrating our neighbors and the place we proudly call home.
The Annual Membership Meeting is one of the Chamber's most anticipated events of the year. It gives us the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments we've achieved together, thank the volunteers and leaders who help move our community forward, and honor individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact on Abilene.
It's also a chance to look ahead. As we celebrate the progress we've made, we'll reflect on the opportunities that lie before us and the important work still to come. The future of Abilene is bright because of the people who continue to invest their time, talent, and resources into strengthening our community.
Whether you're a long-time Chamber member, a new business owner, a community leader, or someone who simply loves Abilene, we invite you to be part of this special evening.
We truly believe that good employers pour into others and create good jobs and good employees → Good employees then take those blessings and build good families → Good families then find a place to be planted and invested and become good neighbors → And good neighbors, living life side-by-side, create great neighborhoods.
