What would you recommend to someone looking for something to do in Abilene? A visit to ArtWalk? A movie at the Paramount? An evening with the Philharmonic?
This fall, Abilene Young Professionals will have a chance to enjoy all three together.
Clear Your Calendar, presented by Clear Fork Bank, is a three-part series that invites young professionals to explore our local arts and entertainment scene while getting to know one another. It begins October 29 with ArtWalk at the Center for Contemporary Arts, followed by Pirates of the Caribbean at the Historic Paramount Theatre on November 13 and A Frank Sinatra Christmas with the Abilene Philharmonic on December 5.
That’s a good lineup of reasons to spend an evening downtown.
It’s also an opportunity to introduce people to organizations that contribute so much to life in Abilene. If you’ve attended a performance at the Paramount or heard the Philharmonic play, you probably have a favorite memory. Maybe you’ve discovered an artist through the Center for Contemporary Arts whose work you now follow. Those experiences give us something to share when we talk about why we enjoy living here.
But our arts organizations need people to walk through their doors. Attending, bringing a friend and making plans to return are practical ways to support the work they do throughout the year.
Clear Fork Bank is helping make that first visit a little easier. Through the bank’s support, AYP members can enjoy special ticket discounts, exclusive access to the Clear Fork lounge, and a complimentary drink voucher. We appreciate that investment in both our young professionals and the arts organizations taking part.
For someone who has been curious about an event but hasn’t made plans to attend, having a group to go with can make a difference. The same is true for someone new to Abilene who is still getting to know people. A shared evening gives you something to talk about and, hopefully, a few familiar faces the next time you head downtown.
That’s what we hope this series will encourage. Come enjoy something you already love, or give something new a try. Get to know the people beside you. Then make plans to do it again.
Clear Your Calendar kicks off Thursday, October 29, at the Center for Contemporary Arts.
Three months. Three downtown experiences. One great reason to get out.
